Length of time: minimum of 1 year

To provide governance support to A Bridge to Better Living Society, a charitable society and a
thrift store in Chilliwack that raises funds for juvenile diabetes research and restorative intervention for people at risk.

  • Understand and demonstrate a commitment to the Society’s mission
  • Keep up-to-date with issues and trends that affect the Society
  • Prepare for meetings by reading agendas, minutes, reports and other documentation required to actively participate in them
  • Attend meetings regularly
  • Contribute skills and knowledge by participating actively in meetings and committee work
  • Make inquiries when clarification or more information is needed
  • Understand and monitor the Society’s financial affairs
  • Avoid any potential conflicts of interest
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality
  • Ensure the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate annually the performance of the Society in achieving its mission
  • Abide by all Society policies
  • Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Board


  • Attendance at monthly Board meetings
  • Attendance at meetings and willingness to serve on assigned committees
  • Attendance at Annual General Meetings
  • Attendance at membership meetings
  • Support the Society’s special events and initiatives


  • Play an integral role by engaging with and supporting the Society’s team of staff and volunteers in delivering the Society’s mission, vision, and values
  • Gain valuable knowledge on the topic of diabetes, restorative intervention and the up-sale/resale/recycling industry
  • Making a difference in the community by supporting the Society’s mission

  • Experience with fundraising
  • Social Services and related experience
  • Punctual and reliable
