Chilliwack Community Services – Immigrant Services is looking for a Migrant Worker English Conversation Circle Leader!

Do you want to help newcomers improve their English, integrate into our community, and build relationships?  Chilliwack Community Services is a looking for an English Conversation Circle Leader who will facilitate a weekly conversational English language class to Migrant Workers of varying abilities who would like to improve their English skills.  The two hour class will be held every Saturday evening on Zoom. There are multiple positions available; the commitment would be to facilitate the class 1-2 times per month.

Qualifications

  • Must complete and maintain a successful Criminal Record Check
  • Previous teaching experience or enrollment in a TESL program preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills
  • Spanish or a second language an asset but not required
  • Experience using online platforms such as Zoom
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience working in a group setting

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. To facilitate the conversation class in a fun and welcoming manner
  2. To encourage participation and ensure everyone has the opportunity to speak
  3. To select relevant and interesting materials, with the assistance of the Immigrant & Volunteer Connector
  4. To informally assess comprehension and understanding of materials and make adjustments as needed
