PROGRAM NAME: Shopping Shuttle Service
POSITION TITLE: Shopping Shuttle Volunteer
LOCATION: 2420 Montrose Avenue
COMMITMENT: Last Monday of every month, 10am – 2pm
REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Help seniors stay connected, active, and engaged in their community! As a Volunteer Shopping Shuttle Companion, you’ll support older adults on monthly shopping outings by providing transportation, friendly conversation, and assistance while shopping and enjoying coffee together. This rewarding role helps reduce social isolation, build meaningful connections, and create a positive experience for seniors who may otherwise have difficulty getting out on their own.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick up and transport 3 to 4 seniors to the designated grocery store using an Archway vehicle.
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and social environment for participants.
Assist seniors with shopping as needed.
Ensure participants and volunteers wear program-provided lanyards.
Accompany seniors to a local café for conversation and social connection.
Return seniors home safely following the outing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid BC Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract and Criminal Record Check.
Valid vehicle registration and insurance that meet BC requirements, with a safe, reliable vehicle.
Willingness to communicate with clients and/or BAH staff as needed to ensure communication and limit risks and liabilities.
