Chilliwack Community Services –Community Connection Courier–
- This volunteer role involves picking up donated items from community locations and delivering them to clients in need. This role is not needed frequently—requests typically come in about once a month—but occasionally, they may be urgent. It requires a volunteer with access to an insured vehicle who can handle light to moderate lifting when necessary.
Qualifications needed:
- Completion of a clear criminal record check
- Valid BC Driver’s License & access to an insured vehicle
- Ability to read a map/ google maps and/or familiarity with the community.
- Ability to lift and carry items of moderate weight, if needed
- Strong communication and time-management skills
- Courteous, caring and professional demeanor
- Reliable and punctual
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Pick up donated items from various community locations
- Drive to multiple locations, as needed, within the area
- Deliver items to specified client’s address
- Ensure safe handling and transport of items, within reasonable weight limits
- Communicate with the program coordinator regarding pick-ups and deliveries
- Represent our agency with professionalism and respect
- Report total volunteer hours, before the end of each month.
- Attend program training & meetings, and twice annually for group check-ins.
Time commitment: usually once per month, but occasionally requests may come up that are urgent
