Have you been a caregiver in the past?

Would you be willing to peer co-facilitate family caregiver support group sessions for caregivers of older adults, where they share their caregiving challenges and successes together?

We would love to hear from you!

The Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society (CNHPS) is looking for someone with past experience in caring for a loved one who would be willing to become a peer co-facilitator for our weekly in-person family caregiver support group meetings.  The group meets every Thursday afternoon from 1:30-3:00 pm.

Duties will include:

  • Peer co-facilitating family caregiver support group meetings
  • Linking caregivers to resources as needed
  • Maintaining an attendance list
  • Preparing refreshments for each event
  • Setting up and taking down tables and chairs for each event (peer facilitators would arrive half an hour before the meeting begins to set up the venue and prepare refreshments, and would stay half an hour later to wash up cups and take down tables and chairs)

Virtual training will be provided via Family Caregivers of BC as the course becomes available.

Successful applicants will:

  • Agree to an interview by phone
  • Complete CNHPS’s orientation process (submit a volunteer application form, attend a virtual orientation session, complete a criminal record check, and sign volunteer consent forms)
  • Submit a clean criminal record check (can be completed online via the iVolunteer site, or contact us if you prefer to submit a paper copy to the local police station)
  • Take virtual educational training via Family Caregivers of BC when offered
  • Preferably live in Chilliwack
