Are you a young person who enjoys working with seniors and wants to support isolated older adults?
Are you considering a career involving work with seniors or health care?
Are you looking for a unique and enjoyable way to gain volunteer hours?
Do you enjoy meeting and getting to know new people?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society may have an opportunity for you, and we would love to hear from you!
CNHPS’s Inter-generational Program is a place for seniors and youth to spend time connecting with each other through activities such as crafts, board games, etc.
These events take place on the second and fourth Tuesday afternoon each month from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. Students are welcome to join at whatever time they can make it after school, and can choose to attend every time or only once per month.
Youth volunteers will be engaged with senior participants through a different planned activity at each event.
Volunteer hours will be logged each month in order to provide recognition at the end of your time volunteering with us or on request for education or employment references.
Successful applicants will:
- Agree to an interview by phone
- Complete CNHPS’s orientation process (submit a volunteer application form, attend a virtual orientation session, complete a criminal record check, and sign volunteer consent forms)
- Submit a clean criminal record check (can be completed online via the iVolunteer site, or contact us if you prefer to submit a paper copy to the local police station)
- Live in Chilliwack or be willing to come to Chilliwack to participate in events
