SUMMARY:Salvation Army Chilliwack – 2019 Christmas Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:Christmas Central Volunteers: \nWe have multiple positions available for Christmas Central this year including intake volunteers as well as host/hostess position. The location for this to be announced\, volunteers will be working with Chilliwack Low income residents that are in need of a Christmas Hamper. You can work a 2 hour shift or a full day if you prefer! \nChristmas Central opens November 12 and will close December 14.  The hours are 10am to 12pm and 1:00pm to 3:00pm\, Monday Through Saturday. \nChristmas Drivers/Grocery Store Pickups: \nWe need a few volunteers that are able and willing to pick up food from all of the grocery stores in Chilliwack a few days per week.  Typically you use your own vehicle\, however we can arrange for our cargo van if needed. This will be a commitment of 1 time or more a week for a few hours per day. \nChristmas Kettles Campaign/Bell Ringers: \nThe Salvation Army is known around the world for the red kettles\, you can be a part of this worthwhile cause.  We require volunteers to work 2 hour shifts collecting donations on behalf of The Salvation Army.  If you would like to volunteer for our Kettle Campaign I will put you in touch with our kettle coordinator. \nKettles Start November 16 and will be going strong until December 24\, 2018.  Kettle times are 10am to 8:45pm Monday-Friday and 10 am to 6pm on Saturdays\, in 2 hour shift increments. \nParking Fundraisers at Heritage Park: \nThis year we have the honor of collecting donations for the foodbank\, Heritage Park allows non-profit groups collect donations for parking at events\, this year we have 7 days and we are looking for volunteers or groups of 6 people to assist in parking duties as well as donations for 2 hour shifts.  Volunteers are welcome to attend the event for free before or after your parking shift! The dates and times are as follows: \nThe Christmas Expo comes to town and December 7 from 3:30-8:00pm\, December 8 and 9th are from 9:30am-3:00pm. \nSaturday December 1- we are in need of multiple volunteers in multiple locations if you have some time to spare please select one of the activities below: \nSanta Shuffle-Located at The Rotarty Trail  10am- Positions to be announced \nFill the Cruiser Food Drive-Times to be announced \nShred a thon-at The Cottonwood Mall Parking lot 10am-2pm and they are 2 hour shifts. \nDecember 17\, 2019 \nBuilding Christmas Hampers-We will need volunteers during the day to help build approx. 1400 Hampers morning and afternoon shifts available-  9am to approx.. 2pm \nAdopt a Family– Hampers start to come in\, volunteers are needed to assist in receiving the hampers and assist donors in collecting donations for the turkey vouchers. \nShifts are 9:50am-3pm as well as 2:45pm-7pm multiple volunteers are needed.  The Salvation Army Church 46420 Brooks Avenue \nDecember 18\, 2019 \nAdopt a Family– Hampers start to come in\, volunteers are needed to assist in receiving the hampers and assist donors in collecting donations for the turkey vouchers. \nShifts are 9:50am-3pm as well as 2:45pm-7pm multiple volunteers are needed.  The Salvation Army Church 46420 Brooks Avenue

DESCRIPTION:Event Day Volunteers\nSeptember 7th & 8th 2019\nThe Bicycle Trek for Life & Breath is a fundraising event hosted by the BC Lung Association. Hundreds of participants will embark on the ride of their life for a 200km route through the beautiful Fraser Valley. The ride starts at Fort Langley through to Cultus Lake and back the following day. These dedicated participants are riding in support of the BC Lung Association’s ongoing fight against lung disease. \nBC Lung Association is currently looking for volunteers to help out at this fantastic event. We need motivated\, outgoing\, and reliable individuals to help at various stations including\, registration\, rest stops\, route marshalls\, and start/finish line. \nGeneral Info \n\nVolunteer shifts are between 6:00am – 5:00pm (length and start time depends on position)\nPositions are located in the Fraser Valley\, complimentary parking available at Start Line\nFood will be provided for all volunteers. SUMMARY:Prospera Valley GranFondo
DESCRIPTION:The Prospera Valley GranFondo is a community cycling event in the Fraser Valley that allows 1500 riders to enjoy cycling the beautiful country roads of the Fraser Valley. On July 22\, we offer participants an opportunity to choose from three different distances in a granfondo style cycling event. \nYou can sign up to volunteer at http://www.valleygranfondo.com/volunteer/ \nVolunteers play a key role in creating an unforgettable experience for riders\, spectators\, media and special guests from all over. The event will draw on the help of approx. 300 volunteers over two days\, July 21 (rider package pick up) and 22 (event day)\, in historic Fort Langley\, the birthplace of British Columbia. Without these volunteers who offer their time\, energy\, support and enthusiasm we would not be able to have the great event we do. \nNote that volunteers are needed to act as course marshalls along the route in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

A t-shirt and a meal is also included in the volunteer package. After July 1st we will draw a grand prize for one lucky volunteer.

Themes this year are – building a diverse leadership network\, engaging youth volunteers\, embracing new technology and opportunity to hear from the Community Gaming Grants Branch. \nJoin BCACG & Volunteer BC – at VOLUNTEER FUTURES SYMPOSIUM 2017 – WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY. For the 2nd year we have combined the event to offer a cost-effective conference known for its inspiring keynote addresses\, practical workshops and relevant sessions with plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues and volunteers from across BC. \nNew this year – Project Management Volunteers (PMV) will be offering a reduced rate/full-day workshop on Introduction to Project Management for Not for Profits in conjunction with the conference. Limited spaces available. More details found under the PMV tab. \nRegistration fees include: All sessions\, breakfast\, lunch\, coffee & refreshments. \nEveryone is welcome! Volunteers\, staff\, board of directors\, volunteer coordinators and from general public wanting to learn more about volunteerism and non-profit/charities sector can attend. Sign language interpreters are available making this event accessible for people who are deaf and hard of hearing. \n

DESCRIPTION:The idea to develop a community run first came about when founders Karisa Neufeld and Ciera Fox were reminiscing about growing up in Chilliwack and how lucky they were to have access to such an amazing setting and community. They believed it was Chilliwack’s small town feel\, the people they grew up around and all the rivers\, lakes and mountains surrounding them that\, over time\, instilled the core beliefs and power of CONNECTION\, MOVEMENT\, WHOLE FOODS\, NATURE and EDUCATION. \n​Fast forwarding to now\, Karisa and Ciera have both developed a strong passion for living life preventatively. For them\, prevention means stopping illness before it has a chance to start; this is the key to thriving and living a full life. Another core value they have is giving back! DESCRIPTION:Word Vancouver is once again seeking volunteers for our annual literary festival which is happening from September 19 to 24 this year\, with Sunday September 24 being the main event day at the Vancouver Public Library. \nWe are looking for new volunteers as well as welcoming back our yearly and much appreciated volunteers\, to assist the public attendees\, the authors\, the performers and exhibitors to have a smooth and fun experience. \nWe need enthusiastic helpers for the weeks leading up to the festival\, for pre-production\, set-up\, take down and many onsite festival positions on the Sunday.
