SUMMARY:Prospera Valley GranFondo
DESCRIPTION:The Prospera Valley GranFondo is a community cycling event in the Fraser Valley that allows 1500 riders to enjoy cycling the beautiful country roads of the Fraser Valley. On July 22\, we offer participants an opportunity to choose from three different distances in a granfondo style cycling event. \nYou can sign up to volunteer at http://www.valleygranfondo.com/volunteer/ \nVolunteers play a key role in creating an unforgettable experience for riders\, spectators\, media and special guests from all over. The event will draw on the help of approx. 300 volunteers over two days\, July 21 (rider package pick up) and 22 (event day)\, in historic Fort Langley\, the birthplace of British Columbia. Without these volunteers who offer their time\, energy\, support and enthusiasm we would not be able to have the great event we do. \nNote that volunteers are needed to act as course marshalls along the route in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

DESCRIPTION:Where: Townsend Park – 45130 Wolfe Rd\, Chilliwack\, BC V2P 7S6 \nWhen: July 1st from 11am-10pm \nWhat we are looking for: People with good attitudes and willingness to fill a 4-6 hour shift between 11am-10pm. Examples of areas we need help in: Parking\, Site Maintenance\, Vendor running\, Gate Keeping\, Crowd Pumping (handing out free Canada Day SWAG and ‘pumping up’ the crowd). \nWhat do volunteers get?: For whoever is able to attend the orientation and appreciation night (June 28th 6-9pm at Townsend Park)\, we are serving dinner and giving away some great volunteer prizes! A t-shirt and a meal is also included in the volunteer package. After July 1st we will draw a grand prize for one lucky volunteer.

DESCRIPTION:This is a fun event for everyone in the family – kids especially! Part of BC’s Family Fishing Weekend so there are no fishing licenses required for the entire weekend. This is a perfect time to gather for family fishing fun and community celebration. The boat launches will be open\, or you can fish from the shore. Be sure to leave time to browse around because there will be community booths too. \nBy entering the Derby\, you’ll be helping to control the population of pikeminnow\, which is a predator of young Sockeye salmon and other fish in the lake.
