This session will help cut through the complexity by reviewing new court cases\, CRA policies and provincial/federal legislation relevant to the non-profit and charitable sectors.\nACCOUNTING UPDATES & SOCIAL ENTERPRISE: Changes in Accounting standards\, Government and Canada Revenue Policies\, and common mistakes charities and NPOs make will be highlighted. Many charities and NPOs engage in Social Enterprise to support their programs. This session will focus on common pitfalls made\, and structures that are used for Social Enterprise — a very timely topic.\nTHE VOLUNTEER RELATIONSHIP: Volunteers are a vital part of most non-profit organizations\, but how do you prevent problems with your volunteers or deal with the problems that do come up? This session will cover common rules\, rights\, and remedies that apply to your organization’s volunteer relationships.\nCOLLABORATING FOR CHARITIES & NON-PROFITS: Innovating and adapting to rapidly changing conditions can be a challenge for charities and non-profits. This session will provide a broad overview of how charities and non-profits can collaborate and partner with each other and with other organizations in response to change and to further the common good.\nCANADIAN CHARITY WORK – PRIVILEGE OR PAIN?: A brief look at questions to ask when determining whether or not to take a project on.
