MCCBC’s Circle of Friends program is looking for volunteers to walk alongside our neighbors who have experienced homelessness!
Circle of Friends connects people who have experienced homelessness with groups of 2-3 volunteers who meet weekly for social activities. Circle activities could include conversation over coffee, going for walks or playing a drop-in sport at the recreation center. Circles work to help build belonging and friendships with people who have lived experienced with homelessness to help form healthy social relationships and habits working towards maintaining housing. Monthly gatherings and activities are planned where all the participants and volunteers are invited to attend.
Volunteers should be available for 1.5-2 hours weekly for the meetings of the circle: low-cost events that’s cost is covered by MCC. These circles plan to run for longer periods of time to build those social connections.
- Must be an individual over the age of 18
- Patience, open-mindedness and friendliness are assets
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector verification
