Mission Literacy in Motion’s Reading Buddies program is looking for English and French Big Buddy volunteers (ages 13+) to support young readers in Grades 1–4 for English and Grades 1–6 for French.
Big Buddies are paired with a Little Buddy for one hour per week at the Mission Public Library, where they participate in reading and other fun literacy-based activities in a supportive and encouraging environment.
This is not a tutoring program, and no previous experience is required. The goal is to provide extra reading practice, encouragement, and positive support to help children develop confidence and a love for literacy. It’s a gre.at opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life while gaining valuable volunteer experience.
Volunteer hours can be used toward school graduation requirements.
We are currently in particular need of French Big Buddy volunteers! However, we are always accepting applications for both English and French Big Buddies, as the number of Little Buddies looking to be matched varies throughout the year. New opportunities become available as applications come in, so we encourage anyone interested to apply!
