The Salvation Army Chilliwack is seeking motivated volunteers to join our team.  If you want to give back to your community we have many opportunities available.

The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and to be a transforming influence in the community

Pantry Host:

Our Pantry provides fresh local groceries to over 75 people every single weekday, and we are looking for amazing, compassionate volunteers to help take our guests “shopping”. Volunteers will guide guests one at a time through tables of fresh produce, deli items, baked goods and dairy products to get them everything they need for the day. There are two shifts each day, a morning shift from 9am-12pm, and an afternoon shift from 12:30pm-4:00pm. This is an incredible opportunity to be big part of solution to hunger in our community, so please reach out if you would like more information!

Hope Chest:

Volunteers in the Hope Chest will assist clients in getting fitted for emergency clothing and household essentials. Clients first check in with our office to receive a list of items they are eligible for, and Hope Chest volunteers will serve clients one at a time, helping them find and get fitted for clothing items as detailed on their list. Hope Chest is open from 9:30am-12pm and 1pm-3pm and volunteers should be comfortable working independently.

Thrift Store:

We are looking for volunteers to join our Thrift Store to work with donated items, donors, customers, other volunteers and staff to maintain a positive working environment. Store hours are Monday- Saturday from 9am-5pm and volunteers in the Thrift Store are able to choose the times that work best for them. If you are interested in great customer service, this is the position for you!

Soup Kitchen:

Volunteers in our Soup Kitchen assist the Cook in preparing a delicious soup and sandwich lunch for over 100 members of our community. Shifts are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-12pm and  duties can include basic prep work, cleaning and dishwashing. Due to Covid, volunteers are not responsible for serving clients, and will instead prepare the meal as bag lunch for clients to take on-the-go.

If you are interested in applying for any of those volunteer positions, please fill out our Volunteer Application Form at the link below, and our Volunteer Coordinator, Josh Bohr, will be in touch with more information.
