Biography

Who we are: In the fall of 1988, two gentlemen from Chilliwack, BC joined the Bible League’s ministry tour to India. The economic situation in India greatly impacted both men and left them with a desire to help the people of India.

Upon returning to Canada they became involved in discussions with the Director of Bible League Canada about ways to help them help others. They ultimately established a thrift store, with the purpose to donate the net revenue to Bible League Canada.

Subsequently, they approached friends from an affiliated church in Abbotsford to also set up a thrift store. This local group agreed and incorporated in order to secure a lease. Shortly after, the Abbotsford group opened the second Bibles for Missions store. Because the Abbotsford location incorporated at the outset, it operated independently of the BFM Foundation, but in close association through shared goals and values.

Subsequent to the Abbotsford store opening, BFM Foundation continued to open more stores under the BFM name.

Recently, Bibles for Missions stores underwent a name change and became Mission Thrift Stores. They have now grown to over 50 locations across the country but continue to operate independently of ABFM Thrift Store.
