Care For Women exists to support women who are isolated and/or vulnerable during the early stages of motherhood.

Volunteer Mentors are mothers who want to make an impact in the lives of isolated moms of newborns. They are matched with a new mom for up to 6 weeks after her baby is born. Supporting a mother often looks like:

● Mentoring and showing her love (e.g. being a supportive ear, a voice of encouragement, holding her baby so the mom can shower or nap, bringing her a baby gift);
● Bringing her prepared meals;
● Assisting her to postpartum medical appointments;
● Aiding her with simple household duties (e.g. folding laundry, emptying her dishwasher, vacuuming, etc.);
● Connecting her to community resources, so she can continue to receive support.

Volunteer benefits: Semi-annual appreciation events, milestone gifts and recognition. Our volunteers make a huge impact on a new mom and a new babies journey and deeply impacts our volunteers in making such a profound different in a new families life.

Our Volunteers are usually matched with two mothers a year. It includes 4-6 visits per mother and starts just before the baby is due and extends to the 6 weeks after the baby has arrived. The schedule is set based on Mentor and Mentees schedule and baby’s due date.

In addition to our Volunteers own motherhood experience(s), our Volunteers received full training from our Program Coordinators and ongoing support. The cost to the volunteer is simply their time.
